Uppercrust
About This Spot
Walking into Uppercrust feels like stepping into a cherished little corner of France tucked away in Gainesville. The warm, intimate space hums with a quiet energy—a cozy refuge where the day’s rhythm slows down just enough to savor simple, thoughtful moments. The soft light filters through, resting on wooden shelves lined with delicate pastries, inviting you to linger over a perfectly baked almond croissant or a petite éclair that wears its flaky layers like a work of art.
There’s a gentle attentiveness here, not just in the way the pastries are crafted but in how the team greets each visitor as if they’re stepping into a familiar home. The mood is unhurried yet purposeful—the kind of place where the aroma of fresh coffee lingers alongside the promise of discovering something new and quietly delightful. It’s a rare spot that combines the craftsmanship of an artisan bakery with the welcoming spirit of a neighborhood gathering place.
What makes Uppercrust stand apart is how every bite feels like a small celebration of care and tradition. From the buttery, tender layers of their croissants to the rich, nuanced sweetness of their tarts and cookies, the menu flows naturally as a part of the experience rather than a list. There is a certain magic in tasting a pastry that could have been made just moments before you arrived—still warm, still alive with texture and flavor.
Alongside the curated selection of breads and treats, the wine collection adds an unexpected layer, encouraging subtle conversations over a glass as day turns to evening. It’s a place where flavors and moments both unfold gradually, leaving you with a quiet satisfaction that stays with you long after you leave.
Uppercrust isn’t just a bakery–it’s a refuge for those who appreciate craftsmanship, warmth, and the little human touches that turn ordinary days into something a bit more memorable. Whether you’re popping in for your morning coffee or making a slow afternoon occasion of it, this is a spot that invites you to make yourself at home and savor the quiet joy baked into every detail.

The best croissants and cinnamon rolls in town! I have taken family members here and they have all praised the bakery treats. Whenever I visit I’ve always received great customer service from the staff too. This is one of my favorite small businesses to support!!!

This French bakery is absolutely incredible! Everything is fresh, flaky, and full of flavor — truly some of the best pastries I’ve ever had. The spinach and feta rose is to die for — perfectly buttery and savory with the most amazing texture. Ben, the owner, is so kind and welcoming, and the whole team makes you feel right at home. You can tell they put so much care into every detail. A must-visit spot — you’ll want to come back again and again!

I don't want to tell anybody about upper crust, I want to keep it a secret, it's handmade with extra care, superior skill. They have magical, delightful pastries etc. I have had pastries in Europe and croissants and very fine cafes and didn't care for them enough to want another. This is like something made in heaven and stuffed into a tiny little strip mall shop. The interior of the store is very pleasant even dreamy. There's not a lot of room, but that's okay because you can't leave their disappointed with anything you purchased. If you had told me I would be driving all the way to Gainesville to buy a croissant (45 minute drive) I'd have said you were nuts. I just happened to go in there after getting my son a haircut, now I can't stop going back. If you're looking for an authentic handcrafted top shelf bakery you just found it! Please leave me a croissant and a pistachio pastry.

We have lived near the Gainesville area for a long time and for whatever reason we never tried this place for breakfast. Only their cookies. The pastries are amazing, some of the best in the area. The guava one is awesome. They were very busy on a Saturday morning. The coffee was the only letdown. The consistency and boldness was good but it had almost no flavor despite getting vanilla. I’d like to come track and try more coffee and pastries in the future.

AMAZING!! Perfect place to go with friends, we got the best pastries ever. Peach pastry was our favorite. I also got hot chocolate and my friends got matcha and coffee, all yummy! Plus the staff was so helpful with making recommendations and just so kind. And they have the cutest little decorations and trinkets for sale!!

They offer a variety of breads including baguettes (Classic French, Rosemary) and other loaves (Rosemary Batard, Pain Aux Cereales Batard). A signature item, their croissants come in various flavors, including butter, chocolate, almond, raspberry, and Nutella. High quality service with high quality Bakery products
